At the AAI Champs in Dublin Tom Carey ran 52.07secs for 400H while HCA Rose-Ann Galligan ran 2.03.35secs over 800 metres.
At the Aviva British Grand Prix in Gateshead Nick Smith ran 10.53secs for 100metres; Abi Oyepitan clocked 23.41secs over 200m and Marilyn Okoro showed improved form with a 2m01.55secs 800 metres.
The BMC Grand Prix at Solihull saw some great middle distance running with Philippa Aukett near her pb with an 800 metres time of 2m05.62secs; Amy Campbell clocking 4m29.19secs for 1500 metres and Niel Gamester back on form with an encouraging 14m35.33secs over 5k
In Heusden, Belgium Gemma Bennett ran 100m Hurdles in 13.64secs

32 Shaftesbury athletes represented their school counties at the ESAA Champs held last Friday and Saturday at Alexander Stadium, Perry Barr, Birmingham. Conditions were hot and humid on both days which was an added challenge for all the athletes.

Last saw our Seniors searching for European qualification performances all over Europe and at home while our top youngsters sharpen up for this coming weekend's ESAA Champs.
The BMC Meeting/Watford Open on Wednesday 30th June saw some impressive performances from our middle distance athletes.
Lucy Yates and Nina Anderson ran good 800s 2m08.88/2m11.80. The latter is aiming to medal in the European Vets in Hungary later this month.
U17W Ciara Stewart set a new pb over 1500m with 4m55.33secs, Sophie Connor sliced 12 secs off her 3k time with 9m45.24secs to go UK 8th for 2010.
Niall Fleming clipped another second off his 1500m pb with 3m53.02secs

A resurgent Shaftesbury Mens team claimed second spot at Alexander Stadium, Birmingham in the the latest BAL meeting.
A delighted Geoff Morphitis, SBH team manager reports:

A small group of loyal Shaftesbury senior women fought for every point in the second round of the UKWAL Premier Division at Sports City Manchester on Saturday 3rd July.
Shorn of several leading athletes who were seeking European selection at meetings on the continent the 'humbug' ladies had to be satisfied with 7th position overal and remain in one of the two 'relegation slots'. They will be looking to field a much stronger team in the final match at Windsor on Saturday 31st July if they hope to avoid 'the drop'.

It was a very successful weekend for a large group of Shaftesbury athletes bidding for qualification into the GB team competing at the European Champs being held in Barcelona in August.
Lee McConnell was an impressive winner of the Womens' 400m in 51.55secs (a tantalising 5 hundredths of a second off the GB 'A' qualification time.
Jade Nicolls threw a pb 57.81m to secure victory in the Womens' Discus
